Frequently Asked Questions
What is coaching?
By now, you've probably read so many definitions of coaching that your eyeballs are starting to roll back in your head.
Hiring a coach is like having your own personal motivational speaker, trainer, best friend and cheerleader all rolled into one.
Coaching itself is the process used to help you get from where you are in your life, to where you want to be. I help my clients discover and design lives that bring them joy.
I can also help you break through fears and self-limiting beliefs in order
to experience the joy that's waiting for you on the other side. I do this using a combination of training, the wisdom of my personal experience, coaching exercises and humor.
If you hire me, you will learn how to:
- recognize your body's signals that you're veering off course
- design a life that is true to your essential self and who you truly are
- break through limiting fears and beliefs
- weed out the stuff that's not working for you
- discover what truly brings you joy
- laugh a lot along the way
The Nuts & Bolts of It (aka "How does it work?")
Each
week, at the same Bat time and channel, you will call me at a top-secret phone number. If you have something specific you'd like to focus on, all you need to do is e-mail me the day before our session. During the session,
my focus will be entirely on you, and I will ask lots of questions, help you brainstorm, provide insights, etc., to
help you get to where you truly want to be in life.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
Would you like to add more joy to your life?
Are self-limiting fears holding you back from fully living your life?
Would you like support and encouragement along the journey to your dreams?
Then coaching is for you!
Another way to find out if coaching is right for you is by
scheduling a complimentary sample session. If this sounds like
something you'd like to try, please e-mail me to schedule a free ½ hour sample session to see if we'd work well together.
Please note, however, that I am not a career coach, and I break out in hives whenever someone mentions the words "career path" and
"market my business". If you are looking for a career coach or business coach, I'm totally the wrong person to ask.
To get the most out of your session, think about something specific in your life that's not working. Think of your ideal day, what you'd like to do for a living if you could make money at it, or something new you'd like to try, but are too chicken to actually do it.
Be prepared to call and start "on time." At the end of our call, I'll give you more info about working with me as a coach. If I think we'll work well together, and that I can be of help to you, I'll hire you as a client right then. Of course, there's no obligation! I'm always happy to have one more person understand the experience of coaching.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Therapists work with clients who require professional help with
healing, recovery and issue resolution. Coaches work with clients who
want a partner to work with them in achieving goals and enhancing their lives.
Therapists are trained to treat diagnosable conditions. Coaches see
their clients' strengths, skills and talents, and support them in
achieving a desirable goals and outcome.
Therapists keep their personal thoughts and feelings removed. Coaches
use personal disclosure to help motivate and challenge their clients. How soon will it be before I see results?
You may see results right after your first coaching session. Some
results may take a bit longer. I recommend giving it a try for about three months before making a decision to
stop.
Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions about coaching that you'd like to ask!
